The future. We want to know about it, we want to see it, we want to change it. Affecting the future has been a human desire since time immemorial. Basically, it boils down to control. In a world full of randomness and harm, we have an urgent need to try to control the world around us. But no matter what we do, we cannot control the world or the future. Wisdom lies in accepting and embracing change, whether it is good or bad.

We make wishes upon stars, we aspire to the stars, some even make decisions about their lives based on the stars. Aspiring to loftier realms is also an ancient desire of mankind, and is usually a good thing (depending on your motivation). The impulse to do good for its own sake is what makes us good people; it is the opposite of egotism. I really believe that we are here on this earth to learn selflessness, which is the foundation of true love.

The future is available to us through our decisions. Life is an unending parade of decisions, and it is our decisions which define us. Choose carefully which road you take, and always try to be aware of your true motivations. If your choices are based on love and compassion, the path you take will be a better one.
