Fractals! Fractals!

My current best-selling coloring book is Living Fractals. This was also my first book done with the assistance of AI. Now, I know that’s an issue for some, but fractals are computer generated by their very nature, so I thought it was not only appropriate but necessary to use AI. It came out around this time last year, and has been selling like hotcakes!

The book was fun to create! The image above is a composite of several fractals to make this composition. AI is great, but it does make images without much of a composition. It likes to center everything. So, I usually comp several elements together to make a good composition. Besides, being a lifelong traditional artist, I’m never really satisfied with straight AI images, I need to make them my own.

Living Fractals contains 50 grayscale images, which I brightened to make them easier for coloring. I have found that, in general, people like abstract images better for coloring. I get it. Representational images bring with them a perceived need to color them with “appropriate” colors, adding decision-making stress to the act of coloring. If you’re coloring for stress relief and relaxation, abstracts are more fun because there is no right or wrong color. You can just play!

The book is called Living Fractals because when I created these images in MidJourney, I told the AI to combine organic, living shapes to the fractals. This made them different from all the other fractal coloring books out there. They’re not just straight mathematical fractals, but something different, more organic.

If you’re into coloring, and like grayscale images, you really need to check out Living Fractals. it will give you weeks of pleasure! It is available, as always, on my site AntarcticaArts.com, or on Amazon or Etsy. Etsy even has a digital version, so you can download the book and print the pages as often as you like!

BTW, Living Fractals is so popular, that I recently published a sequel, Living Fractals 2, which will be the subject of an upcoming post….
