I Have a Best Book of 2019

My newest book, Willoughby’s World of Wonder has been named one of the Best Books of 2019 by Kirkus Reviews! This is an enormous honor and I am thrilled! It first was announced on the Kirkus Website two weeks ago, but now the print magazine is out, and here are the pics.

You will find the review for Willoughby’s, not in the Indie section at the back, but in the Best of Indie section on page 7. I am blown away by this fantastic promotion and honor for my seventh book (my seventh book is featured on page seven. Hmmmm….).

The Kirkus folks told me that book buyers from stores and libraries will keep this issue all year long to guide them in buying the best books out there, so I bought an ad this this issue. When Willoughyby’s came out, I made the decision to go “all in” on the promotion. So, in that spirit, I decided to go for a full-page ad in this issue.

Just a few pages after my review is the ad, appearing on page 11. It is the first full-page ad in the magazine, and I believe that it really grabs your attention. They suggested that they create a standard, formula ad from the book cover and ad copy, but I had this photograph planned in my head for months, waiting for the right time to use it. The color version of the ad is in the pdf edition of the magazine:

I’ve photographed a lot of national ads in my time, but this is the first national ad I shot on my dining room table! I might do a few more ads like this, but in the field, outdoors…..we’ll see.

Anyway, I’m super excited at this recognition, and I am hoping for a blockbuster year for Willoughby’s. If you haven’t got your copy, get it today! It’s available in a Special Edition from me on my site and on Amazon. It is also available in an International Edition, available throughout the world on all the international Amazons and on Book Depository, and so many more websites.
