Fear Not

Fear Not, Digital Collage, 16 x 20″, 2025

Well, it has been a long time I last posted, sorry about that. I’ve been very busy writing. I’m currently working on a novel, a gothic horror novel set in 1906. It will be a lot of fun, but that’s another story….

This print is part of the current series I am making. I am working to create a collection of about twenty images for a new solo exhibition.

Fear Not is an image I’ve been wanting to make for years, a biblically accurate angel. A Seraphim to be exact. Six wings, seven eyes — it’s for a good reason that the first words out of an angels mouth is “Fear not.” They are pretty scary, but we shouldn’t be afraid of them, they are emanations from God. In fact, the word Angel means “messenger.” So, keep your eyes open, they might be walking amongst us, and they might want to talk to you.

My process: I have been collecting old books with Victorian engravings for decades. I scan in the engravings and collage them together in photoshop, and then color them by hand. I’ve been making these kinds of collages since 1999. You can see more of them in posts below.

You can see more of my work on StephenBarnwell.com and you can purchase my prints on Fine Art America. Thanks for dropping by!
